Yes, we’re winding down with this mystery! The end is near but still a month away. I debated whether to end it now or drag it out. The reveal is always fun but we still have a whole new block to make. Even though the smalls have little to do this month with only 4 blocks, the larges have to make 12 so that will take a bit more time. So that’s my rational and I’m dragging it out!
This block is the one I suggested to be flower-like using chosen colors and making the blocks all the same. In my opinion, this gives the pattern a focus since there is so much going on in there. I also suggest that the focus colors should stand out compared to the others around. You know I always make both of the quilts first. My first one looks great with a good contrast and I like it! The second not so much. The block just got lost in the shuffle and is kind of blah. Disappointing! But I suppose somebody will love it somewhere. I used fabric that I really liked and thought would be great. I’ve had it for quite a while and figured I’d use it up. Well I did, but my eye didn’t imagine it to look quite like it came out. I should have used bolder colors but after I finished all 12 blocks I wasn’t going to swap them out or make new ones. I hope your quilt turns out to be a Tasty Crispy Colorful bunch of Fries!
Scrappy French Fries – Mystery Clue #4
Choose 3 – 4″ colored and 3 – 4″ background squares. Cut on one diagonal. Sew HST’s as shown to make 6 squares. Press and trim to 3 1/2″. Combine with 3 1/2″ border, background and colored center squares as shown. Press and trim to 9 1/2″. Make 4 (12).
